Teachers and educators! You can book a class visit to the Museum for students to explore a variety of exhibits about the history of the qathet regional district.
We have different curriculum based school tours available for booking, with more under development. Please see below in regard to the options of school tours we have.
Please note that all school tours require:
- minimum 2 weeks notice is required
- maximum of 30 students per group
- a filled out version of the registration form emailed to programs@qathetmuseum.ca

FEES
- $2.00/student for self-directed visits
- $4.00/student for a generalized museum tour led by Museum staff
- $5.00/student for a curriculum-based tour led by Museum staff
Invoices can be requested to be emailed prior to the tour date, otherwise, they will be provided the day of. There is no charge for accompanying teachers and chaperones.

Our School Tour Options:
SELF – GUIDED TOUR
Students will be allowed to explore the Museum exhibits at their own pace. Staff will be available to answer questions.
Students will be provided with a general scavenger hunt worksheet aimed towards their grade level.
Fee: $2.00/student
Recommended Grades: all grades
Length: variable
GENERAL MUSEUM TOUR
Students will be led through the current exhibits by a Museum staff member, who will provide additional context and information for each display. At the end, students will have the option of either exploring on their own, or doing a general scavenger hunt aimed to their grad.
Fee: $4.00/student

Length: 45 minutes – 1 hour
SAILORS & SETTLERS | GRADES 3-4
Students will learn about early European settlers and explorers in the qathet Region, as well as the role on Indigenous People at this time. They will get hands-on when learning about topics such as hunting, the fur trade, and maps.

Fee: $5.00/student
Recommended Grades: Grades 3-4
Length: 2 hours
FORESTRY, FISHING, & FIELDS! OH MY! | GRADES 4-5
Students will learn about the local environment and the naturally occurring plant, animal, and geologic resources in the qathet Region. The focus will be on those used traditionally by the Tla’amin Nation, as well as those which drew early Settlers to the area.

CHRISTMAS SPECIAL: CHRISTMASES LONG AGO
Students will learn about heritage Christmas and holiday traditions that occurred in the qathet Region. They will enjoy a fun, heavily craft-focused time and develop their understanding of history and their fine motor skills.
