The qMAS’ archives preserve and provide access to the records of the activities of community members in the qathet Regional District from the late 19th century to the present day. It includes a substantial collection of photographs, newspapers, books, papers, maps, and architectural drawings contributed by our community. If planning on coming to the archives in person, making an appointment is strongly recommended. Click here for more information on research requests.

The digital images are created by the qathet Museum & Archives (qMAS) and the qMAS owns the copyright for these digital images. All images are covered under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 Canada License. These images can be used for personal or research use without the need for prior permission from the qMAS. Any other use, including, but not limited to, commercial or scholarly reproductions, redistribution, publication, or transmission whether by electronic means or otherwise without prior written permission from the qMAS is prohibited. The qMAS will grant or withhold permission on a case-by-case basis.

The images on the qMAS website are low resolution files in jpg format. High resolution Tiff or Jpeg files are available for purchase. The images must not be altered or manipulated in any way and proper credit must accompany all images.
When you reproduce an image from the qMAS, the following information must appear with the image as part of the credit line:“Images courtesy of the qathet Museum & Archives”
Fees do not include applicable taxes, packages or shipping costs.
If you are a member in good standing with the qathet Museum and Archives Society, there is a 15% discount on all heritage fees.
For individuals from Indigenous communities located on the northern Sunshine Coast or southwestern British Columbia, Canada there is no charge for digital prints of records, including photographs, reflecting your community and its history.
